Five civilians injured in Paktia during border clashes, residents say

At least five civilians were injured in Afghanistan’s Paktia province during overnight border clashes between Taliban forces and Pakistani troops, local residents told Amu TV on Monday.

The residents said that mortar shells landed on two residential homes in the Dand Patan district late Saturday night, during intense fighting along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Several vehicles and other homes in the area were also reportedly damaged.

The clashes erupted on the night of October 11 when Taliban and Pakistani forces exchanged heavy fire across multiple points along the border. Taliban spokesman claimed 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 25 border posts captured, while Pakistan’s military said it had killed around 200 Taliban and affiliated militants, including fighters linked to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Taliban spokesman also said nine Taliban fighters were also killed in the fighting.
