Afghanistan’s Abdul Basir Qadiri Wins Silver in Judo at Asian Youth Games

Abdul Basir Qadiri, a national judo athlete representing Afghanistan, claimed the silver medal in the 66 kg weight class during the Asian Youth Games on Wednesday.
In his first match, Qadiri defeated the representative of Kyrgyzstan, then overcame his UAE opponent in the second round, and went on to beat the Chinese judoka in the third bout, securing a place in the final.
In the final match, Qadiri faced the representative of Kazakhstan but was defeated, earning silver in the Asian Youth Games held in Bahrain.
Meanwhile, Jahan Zib Tanin, Afghanistan’s judoka in the 55 kg weight class, was eliminated after recording one win and one loss.
So far, Afghan athletes have won five medals in the third edition of the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, including two silver and three bronze medals in judo, MMA, and kurash.
In addition to these achievements, Afghanistan’s U-17 futsal team, after four consecutive victories, has already secured the silver medal, and is scheduled to face Iran in the final tomorrow (Thursday) for the gold medal.
