Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, met with Mohammad Reza Bahrami, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Director for South Asian Affairs, to discuss the situation of Afghan migrants in Iran and recent regional developments.

During the meeting, Mr. Bahrami highlighted the significant progress in trade relations between Kabul and Tehran and announced that Iran will issue 200,000 work visas for Afghan nationals.

He also described the recent tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan as concerning and stated that, if approved by the Islamic Emirate, Iran is ready to mediate between Kabul and Islamabad.

Mawlawi Abdul Kabir called on Iran to treat Afghan migrants with compassion and to protect their property from harm. He also urged all host countries to refrain from forcibly deporting Afghan migrants.

The Minister of Refugees and Repatriation further emphasized, in reference to the recent tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, that using Afghan soil against others is not part of the Islamic Emirate’s policy.

He added that neighboring countries should address their internal issues through dialogue and cooperation with religious scholars instead of making accusations.
