Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, has emphasized the peaceful resolution of tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He also stated that further clashes between the two countries must be prevented.
Farhan Haq said: “We are monitoring the situation between Afghanistan and Pakistan with concern. We want to make sure that the two countries are able to work out their differences in a peaceful manner and that further clashes are avoided.”
Several political and international relations analysts believe that Pakistan has repeatedly violated international law and launched military attacks on Afghanistan, and that the United Nations must prevent such actions by Pakistan.
Najiburrahman Shamal, an international relations expert, said: “Pakistan should be held to international commitments and bound to uphold all its obligations toward Afghanistan and the international community, and to end its aggressive policies against Afghanistan.”
Wahid Faqiri, another international relations analyst, stated: “The United Nations can facilitate dialogue and mediate between the two countries. We, the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan, need the UN’s mediation.”
This comes amid growing tensions between Kabul and Islamabad in recent days due to Pakistan’s violation of Afghan airspace, airstrikes on Paktika, and retaliatory operations by the Islamic Emirate against Pakistan.
