Taliban, Pakistani border forces clash again in Spin Boldak

Taliban and Pakistani forces clashed again early Wednesday in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province and the Chaman area across the border in southern Afghanistan, local sources told Amu.

The fighting began around 4 a.m. on Oct. 15 and continued until 9.a.m. local time.

Ali Mohammad Haqmal, the Taliban’s head of information for Spin Boldak, confirmed the incident and said heavy weapons were used. He declined to provide details on casualties but said the area remains tense and militarized.

Sources said Pakistani forces fired mortar shells during the skirmish, and drones were seen patrolling the skies over Spin Boldak during the exchange.

This is the latest in a string of clashes between Taliban forces and Pakistani border guards in recent days. On Tuesday, the two sides also exchanged fire in Khurawak and Shorabak districts, further along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border.
