Sources: Taliban, Pakistani border forces clash again in Kandahar

Taliban and Pakistani forces clashed again along the border in Kandahar province on Monday night, local sources confirmed on Tuesday.

The clashes occurred in the Sarlat area of Khurawak district and also in Shorabak district, both near the border with Pakistan, according to the sources.

There were no immediate details on casualties or damage, but sources said both sides used light and heavy weapons during the fighting.

Neither the Taliban nor Pakistani officials have commented on the incident.

The exchange comes after similar clashes on Saturday night in the border areas. The Taliban claimed that 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 25 military posts were captured. Pakistan’s military, however, said around 200 fighters from the Taliban and allied groups, including Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, were killed in the fighting.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a press conference Tuesday that nine Taliban members were killed in the border fighting.
