Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Minister of Interior of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, warned in a meeting at the ministry that if the patience and endurance of Afghans are tested again, the response will be very crushing.

According to Haqqani, although Afghanistan does not possess long‑range missiles or heavy weapons, it has a strong resolve and determination in the battle against aggression.

Haqqani added: “Defending our territory is among our priorities. Yet despite all this, the path of understanding remains open. But if someone commits aggression, we have fought the emperors of the world and it is no difficulty for us to defend our territory.”

In another part of his remarks, the Interior Minister said that in recent meetings with Pakistan in Qatar and Turkey, they were told that their internal problems should not be linked to Afghanistan.

He further stated: “The problem is yours. You have the solution. So why do you link it to us?”

Without naming any country, Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani said that some countries, in order to preserve their interests, violate the territory of other countries.

Emphasising the legitimate right of Afghans to defend their territorial integrity, he added that Afghanistan is in favour of good relations with the world.

The senior official of the Islamic Emirate also said: “On the one hand, in order to preserve its interests, one country violates the territory of another; but Afghans have proved themselves in the battlefield and if our forbearance is tested again, our response will be very crushing.”

These remarks by Haqqani come at a time when relations between Kabul and Islamabad have soured and negotiations between Afghanistan and Pakistan have not yet produced results.
