The Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing and the Reclamation of Grabbed Lands announced that over 18 jeribs of land from phases one and two of Arya Township in Kabul’s 10th district have been confirmed as state property following legal and technical investigations.
According to the ruling of the Special Court for Land Grabbing Cases in the Central Zone, this land was part of 166 jeribs under review. After a detailed assessment of documents, property records, and information from relevant institutions, ownership was determined to belong to the state.
Barakatullah Rasooli, spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, said: “These special courts carefully reviewed the documents, evidence, and property records, and after obtaining information from relevant departments, decided that 18.2 jeribs of land from this township — located in phases one and two, belong to the state.”
However, officials from phases one and two of Arya Township have not yet commented on the matter.
The Ministry of Justice added that the Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing, with the establishment of four special courts in the country’s four zones and technical teams in each province, is working to identify and recover grabbed lands.
Meanwhile, some Kabul residents welcomed this move, calling it an effective step against land grabbers.
Ahmad Farid, a Kabul resident, said: “Lands that are confirmed as state property should, in my view, be used for public purposes such as parks and schools.”
Another Kabul resident, Aminul Haq Nuri, added: “The Islamic Emirate has done a very good job by reclaiming the lands that were previously in the hands of powerful individuals.”
Earlier, the Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan had stated that since the establishment of the Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing and the Reclamation of Grabbed Lands, nearly four million jeribs of land have been reclaimed.
