A 25-year-old man died by suicide Wednesday in the northern province of Samangan, Taliban provincial police confirmed.
The man, identified as Nematullah Rahimi, was found hanged in a garden near Aybak, the provincial capital. Local residents said the incident occurred on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
The Taliban’s police command in Samangan said the cause of the suicide remains under investigation.
“The motive behind the incident is still unknown,” said Taliban police spokesperson Heshmatullah Rahmani. “The body was found in one of the gardens around Aybak, and an inquiry is underway.”
This is one of several cases of suicide reported in Afghanistan in recent months, with mental health experts citing rising economic hardship, unemployment, and social restrictions — especially among youth — as contributing factors.
