The Head of Business Development at the Afghan Post says the company’s services have expanded across the country, now offering 22 different cargo and postal services to citizens.

Zabihullah Omar adds that Afghan Post’s service fees are up to 30% lower than those of the private sector. This year, new post offices have been established in Kabul and several other provinces.

He emphasized that the “door-to-door” service, which initially launched in Kabul, is now active in Herat and is set to roll out next month in Kandahar, Nangarhar, and Mazar-e-Sharif.

Zabihullah Omar said: “This year, we opened new post offices in major cities such as Nangarhar, Mazar, Herat, and Kandahar, and also established five branches in Kabul. We have approved plans to launch offices at nine additional locations.”

According to company officials, the modernization and digitalization of Afghan Post systems in Kabul is 80% complete and will soon be implemented in other provinces as well.

Regarding recent U.S. tariff hikes, they explained that these are global policies and not specific to Afghanistan. These tariffs affect personal goods, and paying them is the responsibility of the item owner.

“Shipping fees have not changed. The increased tariffs apply to those of our fellow citizens who send certain goods. If the owner pays the tariff, the shipment will be delivered; otherwise, it will be returned,” Zabihullah Omar added.

Meanwhile, several customers expressed satisfaction with Afghan Post services but called for more branches in remote areas.

Samiullah, a resident of Kunar, said: “Afghan Post has provided many services for us and is more trustworthy than private postal offices.”

Nawab, a resident of Mazar-e-Sharif, said: “We ask the Islamic Emirate to open more branches in Mazar so we can send goods abroad more easily.”

Afghan Post says it currently has active postal and cargo relations with 192 countries worldwide. Inside Afghanistan, it has signed agreements and contracts with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Higher Education, Education, Passport, and the National Statistics and Information Authority to improve service delivery to citizens.
