The spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan told TOLOnews that during the recent conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan, in addition to contacts from neighboring and regional countries, they also received calls from American representatives aimed at mediating and halting the war.

Zabihullah Mujahid emphasized that the United States should use its influence over other countries to help Afghanistan.

Mujahid added: “We received contacts from representatives who are in touch with us. We had mutual communication. We want the U.S. to use its influence over other countries to also support the Afghans.”

These remarks by the spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan come after the U.S. President previously stated that resolving tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan would be easy for him.

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan also described the tense situation with Afghanistan as “very concerning” and added that engagement with Afghanistan should be approached with foresight.

The United Arab Emirates welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan, emphasizing that such an agreement would contribute to regional security.

Abdulwahid Hakimi, a university professor, commented: “With the influence the U.S. has over Pakistan, it can be very effective in this area. Since Pakistan’s foreign policy is influenced by the U.S.”

On the other hand, the Ministry of Defense, in a statement, denied the existence of any hidden annexes in the ceasefire agreement with Pakistan.

The statement read: “The Defense Minister of the Islamic Emirate provided comprehensive details about the agreement with Pakistan in a press briefing. Other than that, there are no additional details.”

Although the Islamic Emirate has repeatedly emphasized that it favors good relations with all countries, including the United States, based on a balanced policy, Washington has so far not taken a clear stance towards the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, except for a few prisoner exchanges.
