Following reactions and welcomes from several regional countries to the ceasefire between Kabul and Islamabad, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the peace efforts of the countries involved in achieving the agreement.
The spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry said that China is willing to continue playing a constructive role in improving and developing relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Guo Jiakun stated: “Pakistan and Afghanistan are both China’s traditional friends and close neighbors. These two countries are neighbors and will always remain so. China welcomes the ceasefire agreement reached between Pakistan and Afghanistan and appreciates the assistance provided by the relevant countries in this regard.”
The Organization of Islamic Solidarity welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan, adding that the agreement could save the two nations from the dangers and painful consequences of armed conflicts.
Additionally, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia welcomed the signing of the ceasefire and the establishment of mechanisms to strengthen lasting peace and stability between the two countries.
In a statement, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring security that leads to stability and prosperity for the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Fazl Manallah Mumtaz, a political affairs analyst, said: “Afghans demonstrated a civilized display by accepting peace, and the call for peace has also come from the other side.”
Some political analysts believe that the support of regional powers for the ceasefire agreement could pave the way for changes in security and diplomatic approaches in South Asia and shift Afghanistan–Pakistan relations from conflict toward cooperation.
Amir Mohammad Garan, a former diplomat in Pakistan, said: “The Pakistani government is trying to ensure that Afghanistan remains unstable and that there is war in Afghanistan.”
Yesterday, some other countries, including Iran and Oman, also welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Kabul and Islamabad, adding that agreeing to resolve disputes through dialogue is a constructive step and that the agreement must be maintained.
