Eight cricket players were killed in a Pakistani airstrike in eastern Afghanistan’s Paktika province on Friday, local sources and residents told Amu TV.

The strike occurred in the Orgun district after the players participated in a local tournament. According to residents, the group had gathered for refreshments following the match and was traveling from the provincial capital, Sharan, to Orgun when their vehicle was hit.

The incident follows a week of escalating border violence between Taliban and Pakistani forces, including artillery exchanges and drone strikes.
