At least 40 people were killed and 170 others injured in Pakistan’s recent airstrikes on residential areas in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar, most of the victims reportedly being women and children.

Local officials state that the strikes directly targeted civilian homes, causing heavy human and financial losses among local residents.

Karimullah Zubair Agha, the Head of Public Health for Spin Boldak, said: “Civilian casualties are extremely high. Yesterday’s airstrikes increased the toll further. We now have a total of 170 injured and 40 dead.”

This marks the latest escalation in tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, which has already sparked widespread reactions.

Survivors of the attacks claim that Pakistan, in violation of the rules of war, deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure and non-combatants in Spin Boldak.

Haji Bahram, a victim of the airstrikes, said: “I’ve never seen such injustice in history. A country that calls itself Muslim has bombed women, children, and homes here. Everything should be resolved through dialogue.”

Abdul Zahir, another survivor, said: “They bombed Muslim children and women. Pakistan did this with utter brazenness.”

Noorghali, also injured in the airstrikes, stated: “There were no military personnel here, only civilians and a local market, yet we were still targeted.”

In addition to airstrikes, shelling from Pakistani artillery has also damaged civilian homes in the areas of Nokli, Haji Hassan Kelay, Wardak, Kuchian, Shorabak, and Shaheed.

Residents of these areas report suffering severe damages from these incidents.

Dawajan, another resident affected by the attacks, said: “Everyone here has been impacted by Pakistan’s strikes. Homes have been destroyed and many have lost family members.”

Hukum Khan, another victim, said: “The attack happened at night while people were sleeping. Many were killed, and some had to bury their loved ones with their own hands.”

The bodies of the victims were buried today in the central cemetery of Spin Boldak district, with hundreds of local residents attending the funeral.

Following the clashes and airstrikes, Spin Boldak is reportedly calmer today, and local markets have partially reopened.
