Three power distribution projects with a combined capacity of 2.2 megawatts have been completed and inaugurated in Logar province, with a total cost of 44 million Afghanis.
According to officials, with the activation of 12 transformers in the provincial center and districts, 2,000 families will now have access to electricity.
Abdul Bari Omar, CEO of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), said: “Electricity has been provided to 2,000 families in eight villages of Logar province, at a cost of 44 million Afghanis.”
The DABS chief also emphasized that the next five years will be critical for the development of Afghanistan’s power sector. He noted that efforts are underway to achieve energy self-sufficiency, including the implementation of contracts to produce thousands of megawatts of electricity.
He further stated that the completion of new power grids and substations will bring significant transformation to the country’s industrial and commercial sectors.
Omar added: “Breshna is striving to move Afghanistan significantly toward energy self-sufficiency over the next five years.”
Meanwhile, the Head of State-Owned Enterprises stated that Afghanistan is approaching economic stability. Referring to Pakistan’s recent airstrikes, he claimed that some neighboring countries view Afghanistan’s current trajectory as intolerable and are trying to destabilize the country.
Ahmad Jan Bilal, Head of State-Owned Enterprises, said: “They are working to create unrest and chaos in our country across different sectors and are violating our national sovereignty.”
At the same time, some residents of Logar province say many of their problems will be resolved with the launch of these power projects and are urging the government to pay more attention to such initiatives.
Mohammad Yaqub, a resident of Logar, said: “We use electricity for heating water, irrigating farmland, and warming our homes during the cold season.”
According to DABS, there are currently 850 power projects underway across the country. Once completed, hundreds of previously surveyed villages will gain access to electricity.
