A former Afghan soldier from Panjshir province has died in Iran after being electrocuted, local sources said.
The man was identified as Commander Ali Shah Alizada, a resident of Dara district in Panjshir.
According to the sources, Alizada fled to Iran after the fall of the republic and had been working as a laborer there.
His body is expected to be returned to Afghanistan “today or tomorrow,” the sources said.
Following the Taliban’s return to power, hundreds of former Afghan military personnel have fled to neighboring countries, including Iran. Many now work in harsh conditions, often as manual laborers.
