The Ministry of Martyrs and Persons with Disabilities has launched the third phase of payments for persons with disabilities and families of martyrs, covering the months of Mizan, Aqrab, and Qaws.

The ministry’s Director of Finance and Administration reported that over the past four months, more than 8.19 billion Afghanis out of a total 12 billion Afghani budget has been transferred to the bank accounts of orphans, widows, and persons with disabilities in the capital and provinces.

Afghan said: “During the past four and a half months of the current year, the ministry has transparently deposited 8,190,853,000 Afghanis into the bank accounts of orphans, widows, and persons with disabilities in both the capital and provinces, enabling them to benefit from monthly cash assistance.”

Officials at the Ministry of Martyrs and Persons with Disabilities, emphasizing transparency and oversight in the payment process, stated that more than 694,000 orphans, widows, and persons with disabilities are currently registered with the ministry, with data for over 500,000 of them recorded in the digital system.

Faisal Khamoosh, spokesperson for the ministry, added: “These figures include 405,763 orphans, 100,799 widows, and 188,416 persons with disabilities. Among the persons with disabilities, 49,784 are women, 37,565 are paralyzed, and 16,247 are blind.”

The ministry also reported that it has so far signed contracts worth $10 million in coordination with charitable organizations and partner agencies to provide services to 70,000 families of martyrs and persons with disabilities.

According to officials, the $10 million has been allocated for food and cash assistance, work equipment, and other necessary supplies for the families of martyrs and persons with disabilities.

The ministry’s spokesperson further stated: “This year, in coordination with charitable organizations and partner agencies, the Ministry of Martyrs and Persons with Disabilities has signed contracts to provide services to underprivileged widows, orphans, and persons with disabilities across the country. Food and non-food items, cash assistance, wheelchairs, sewing machines, motorcycles, and other supplies worth $10 million have been provided to 70,000 families of martyrs and persons with disabilities.”

According to the ministry’s data, in the previous two rounds, salaries for 600,000 orphans, widows, and persons with disabilities have been deposited into their bank accounts.
